Carol Gimbel is the founding and artistic director of Music in the Barns, the visionary concert series, ensemble and storefront studio in Toronto. Gimbel has co-curated theToronto Summer Music Festival’s Shuffle Concerts, and is committed to working closely with Canadian composers. She enjoys traveling and performing, including recent performances with Dan Taylor and the Theatre of Early Music, the Esprit Orchestra and Canadian Opera Company and at the Toronto Summer Music Festival. Carol has written for Canada Arts Connect, is published in the Journal of the Canadian Viola Society and was invited to give a presentation and performance at the 2014 International Viola Congress in Los Angeles. Gimbel holds viola performance degrees from both Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music (Houston, TX) and the Glenn Gould School of Music at the Royal Conservatory.
